Now playing: Nothing at all. Watching "Lofty Ideas" on HGTV. Oh, to have money. I'm not destitute, but I'm not worry-free, either.

One thought that just came to me as I finished the following paragraph, but belongs with the one above, is that why is it that the people whose homes are shown on the teevee have such bad taste? Now, those of you who've been to my apartment know that I have a somewhat, er, unique style. But I sure wouldn't go all to hell with the addition of some buckage, that's for sure. I'd go to Oak Specialists and buy some (surprise) solid oak furniture. I'd go to the Stickley store in Enfield and buy some (gasp!) *matching* pieces. Most of all, though, I think I'd buy a damn house to put all this stuff in!

Boy, reading my recent diaries, you'd think my life was a shitbag. Well, it's not. I have good friends and, despite all its annoyances and quirks, a family that loves me. When you have those two things, you can build a solid foundation for the rest of your life. I think I'm just suffering from what's called the malaise of affluence. I don't have anything [real] to complain about so I have to just bitch and moan about little stuff.

Today Kate and I went up to South Deerfield to visit with some of her friends from when she worked at the mall back in the early 90's. It was nice to see the old gang again; I used to hang with those people quite a bit. We usually manage to see each other once a year. We decreed that our next meeting would be at my place to watch Office Space.

My car radio is acting up and driving me nuts. The volume, mute, and tone adjustment controls aren't working. Quite frustrating. It's probably not even worth fixing. I need to decide whether or not I can live with it, or if I need to have it replaced. *sigh* One more money suck. If it's not one thing, it's another.
